Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is back, and this time the makers are calling it the biggest version of the show yet. The new season premieres on Saturday, 19th September 2026 on Zee TV, arriving with a fresh host, a stacked judging panel and a stage built to feel less like a competition set and more like a live concert. Here is a clear, no-fluff guide to everything confirmed about Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2026 so far.
The show goes live this weekend, and it will keep a regular weekend slot rather than airing daily.
Actor Shreyas Talpade takes over hosting duties for this season. He steps into a role that has passed through several well-known faces over the years, and his background in film and television gives him plenty of experience keeping a live studio audience engaged through a fast-moving format like this one.
The judging panel this season leans heavily on musical credibility, with four names who between them have shaped decades of Hindi film music.
One-third of the celebrated composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Shankar Mahadevan brings both a composer’s ear and a performer’s instinct to the panel. He is also a familiar face to singing-show audiences, having judged similar formats in the past.
A playback singer best known for a string of chart-topping hits through the 1990s, Kumar Sanu adds old-school Bollywood credibility to the judging table, along with decades of first-hand experience in the industry contestants are hoping to break into.
Known for his versatility across Bollywood and regional film music, Javed Ali rounds out the panel with a more contemporary playback perspective, having worked across a wide range of musical styles and languages.
Playback vocalist Neeti Mohan, known for her work across Hindi and other Indian-language films, completes the panel. Her presence continues a tradition of the show pairing veteran voices with more recent playback talent on the judging bench.
The makers are positioning Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2026 as the most ambitious version of the show to date. The new season runs across 36 original episodes and swaps the usual studio set-up for a concert-style format featuring over 100 live musicians, singers and instrumentalists performing together on stage. The set itself has been rebuilt with a royal-inspired, visually grand design, aiming to make every performance feel closer to a live orchestral concert than a typical reality show round.
It’s a noticeably bigger swing than last season’s contestants and mentor line-up, which stuck closer to the show’s traditional format.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been discovering singing talent in India for close to three decades now, and its alumni list includes names like Shreya Ghoshal and Shekhar Ravjiani, among many others who went on to build full-time careers in playback singing and music composition. For the full rundown of every season’s winners, judges and hosts since the show began, our complete Sa Re Ga Ma Pa history covers it season by season.
Before the premiere, Zee TV ran open auditions across twelve cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Indore, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow and Varanasi. Hopefuls could register through a missed call, WhatsApp, or the official audition website, a format the show has leaned on in recent years to widen its talent search well beyond the metro cities.
