What Is Blade Runner 2099 About?
Fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, Los Angeles has been “reborn, just not by humanity,” in the words of Prime Video’s synopsis. Cora, a fugitive, takes on one last identity as a Blade Runner. She is forced to partner with Olwen, a Replicant who is only days from dying, to hunt a runaway who is hiding a truth that could collapse their city.
Do You Need to Watch the Blade Runner Films First?
Prime Video has not said that you must watch anything first. The series is set 50 years after the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049, which was itself a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 original, Blade Runner, and Wikipedia describes the new show as a sequel to both. If you want to catch up, Prime Video says both films can be rented or bought on the service.
