After accidentally hitting a pedestrian on the road, Bryan tries to get her help, only to watch a traffic stop turn fatal and the woman herself turn violent. From there, a mutated dog, an infected couple whose bodies fuse together, and a bitten child in a stranded RV push him further into the outbreak before Umbrella staffers Paul and Maxine pick him up and explain what’s really happening. As the two are killed off one by one, Bryan pushes on alone through the sewers and into the hospital itself, already bitten and worsening by the minute. He crosses a maternity ward full of infected newborns, barely survives a final chase across a collapsing skybridge, and finally reaches the lab to hand over his package. But the infection catches up to him first. As the cure is being prepared, Bryan fully turns, and the film ends with him fully mutated as National Guard helicopters close in overhead.
