How to Audition for AGT Season 22
There are two ways to audition for Season 22, and you can also nominate someone else. Each act gets one virtual audition, but you can send in a video audition as well.
| Route | How it works |
| Video audition | Upload a recorded video of your act through AGTauditions.com. It can be submitted at any time, and each act may submit one video. |
| Virtual open call | Register on the site, then perform live online for a casting producer on your assigned date. The next one is Friday, November 6. |
| Nominate someone | Use the talent scout form on the audition site to nominate another performer. |
NBC has not announced any in-person open calls for Season 22. For Season 21, auditions ran from January to March, so in-person dates may follow in the new year.
How to Sign Up for the Virtual Open Call
- Go to AGTauditions.com and register for the Season 22 virtual open call. Each act needs its own registration under its own email address.
- Check your email, including the junk folder, for a confirmation with your audition date. You can change details through your Performer Profile.
- About a week before your audition, you will be asked to choose an arrival time. This is a check-in time, not your performance slot, and acts are seen in the order they arrive.
- The night before, you will receive a link to take part online.
- Set aside about two hours. Most of that is waiting, and the audition itself is short.
For groups, one member registers and manages the profile, and one virtual ticket covers the whole act. If a member cannot attend, you can upload a full group video to the profile instead.
Who Can Audition for AGT?
NBC says anyone with a special talent is invited to audition, and the show has featured singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, musicians, acrobats and unusual acts. The official rules add some conditions.
| Rule | What the official site says |
| Age | The person who registers and submits the video must be at least 18. Minors can take part through a parent or legal guardian, who must show ID and proof of the relationship and sign the paperwork. |
| Where you live | You do not have to be a U.S. citizen, but you must be a citizen, a legal permanent resident, or in the United States legally while competing. |
| Documents | A photo ID and a signed Personal Release Form are required for virtual auditions. |
| Original work | You must own the rights to your video, and the act must be your own original work. Producers can ask for releases for any music or other material. |
| Who is not eligible | Current or recent (within two years) employees and contractors of the producers, NBCUniversal and sponsors, and current candidates for public office. |
| Content | Videos with sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory or illegal content are not accepted. |
The producers decide eligibility at their sole discretion, so check the full requirements on the audition site before you apply.
How Long Should Your AGT Audition Be?
At a virtual open call, the official site says your act can run up to 90 seconds, and producers may adjust this. It advises starting strong with no long introduction. For recorded videos, the official terms say no longer than two to three minutes, with an optional introduction of up to 30 seconds. Hollywood Outbreak reports a limit of under two minutes, so aiming for under two is the safe choice.
Singers should perform a cappella, with a verse and a chorus, and have a backup song ready. Singers who also play an instrument can accompany themselves.
What Happens After You Audition?
You will not get a decision during the audition. Only the acts producers choose are contacted, and selection notices are expected by the end of March 2027. The official terms say producers do not guarantee that every video will be reviewed, and being picked to audition does not guarantee a place in the competition. Selected acts move on to perform for the judges.
AGT Season 22 Judges, Host and Premiere Date
NBC has not announced the Season 22 judges or host. NBC Insider says new episodes are expected to premiere in summer 2027. The Season 21 winner was Nene Royal, with Geno Ploeger as runner-up.
