What Is Best Medicine About?
Best Medicine follows Dr. Martin Best, a brilliant but blunt surgeon who leaves his career in Boston to become the general practitioner in Port Wenn, a fictional fishing village in Maine where he spent summers as a child. His rude bedside manner rubs the locals the wrong way, and behind it is a phobia of blood and deeper trouble connecting with people. It is based on the British series Doc Martin, and Martin Clunes, who starred in the original, appeared in the Season 1 episode “Doc Martin” as Martin’s father.
Where Season 1 left off
The Season 1 finale, “Norway No How,” aired on April 7, 2026. Martin’s ex Eden arrived in Port Wenn, and Martin overheard Sheriff Mark offer to have a baby with Louisa, who did not shut the idea down. The season ended on that cliffhanger, and Louisa’s decision was revealed when Season 2 picked up months later.
Season 2 story
In Season 2, Martin is trying to save his medical license while caught in a love triangle with Eden and Louisa, who is exploring motherhood. Elaine looks for where she belongs, and Greg and George are distracted by the money from their sea urchin business. Eden returns this season.
