Even before the show could debut on Amazon Prime in November 2021, the fantasy series – The Wheel of Time was renewed for a 2nd season. While we are sure about a second season, we have yet to learn the exact details of when it will premiere.
When Can We Expect Season 2 of The Wheel of Time?
Amazon is yet to reveal any details on when The Wheel of Time will air. The filming for Season 2 began in July 2021, allowing the fans to expect the series to premiere during the same time the following year. However, this wasn’t the case! It is speculated that the show has finished its filming and is in the post-production process.
Moreover, with shows like “Daisy Jones and the Six” and “Carnival Row” already running in March and “The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel” Season 5 lined up for release in April, it is unlikely that Amazon will release The Wheel of Time now.
In one of the interviews, the producer and writer of the show, Rafe Judkins, revealed, “I can say that there’s some truth [to the buzz] in that I do believe season two will be premiering in 2023. I don’t think ‘early’ – there’s still a lot of work that we’ve got to do on the show [in post-production], VFX, all of that. So, I would not expect it in early 2023, but you can expect it in 2023.”
What Will be the Cast of The Wheel of Time?
Rosamund Pike will be back in the role of Moiraine Damodred. Arnas Fedaravisius as Masema, Guy Roberts as Uno Nomesta, and Gregg Chilingirian as Ingtar Shinowa will also reprise their roles. Kate Fleetwood will return as Liandrin Guirale, and it is said that fans will get to see a very different side of this Aes Sedai of Red Ajah.
Several new members will be in the show, including Natasha O’Keefe, Ceara Coverney, and Meera Syal. Another new cast that will join the show is Ayoola Smart, who will play the role of Aviendha – a very powerful character Wise One which was introduced in the third novel in this series.
Most of the old cast will return to the show except for Barney Harris, who played Mat Cauthon. Donal Finn will be taking up the role of Mat Cauthon in Season 2.
What Will be the Plot of Wheel of Time Season 2?
The Wheel of Time book series comprises 14 novels, which is a lot of content for the makers. Season 2 will definitely be more expansive, bigger, and bolder.
Season 1 covered the content from the first book, The Eye of the World. The Dragon Reborn, The Great Hunt, The Shadow Rising, The Fires of Heaven, A Crown of Swords, Lord of Chaos, The Path of Daggers, Winters Heart, Crossroads of Twilight, New Spring, Knife of Dreams, The Gathering Storm, Towers of Midnight and A Memory of Lights – are the remaining books from the series.
Judkins believes the show may run for eight seasons!
