What Is The Gilded Age Season 4 About?
The show is set in New York in the 1880s and follows two families on opposite sides of society: the old-money van Rhijns and the new-money Russells. Season 4 starts with the cost of Bertha Russell’s rise. Her changes to New York society have consequences for her family, and George Russell has left her, although they are not divorced. He is also dealing with business obstacles, including the arrival of John D. Rockefeller.
Agnes van Rhijn is short of money and wants to get her social standing back, so she plans to host a dinner for President Grover Cleveland. She needs funds from her sister Ada, who will not give her an open-ended commitment. Marian Brook is finding a new path for herself, and Peggy Scott is trying to win over her future in-laws after accepting William Kirkland’s proposal. Gladys is expecting a baby, and the premiere deals with a difficult childbirth.
