Apple can be named as a game changer in the tech industry. The first smartphone that the world witnessed was from Apple, the iPhone. For the past so many years, the audience has been a great fan of Apple and it almost appeared like a dream to own one because of its price. But, it seems like the audience is evolving now and choosing other brands as well. Also the smartphone brand has become a matter of troll.
Earlier, tech giants such as Samsung and Huawei had taken over the internet to troll Apple. Now, it seems there’s a new competitor in the market who is all set to bring down Apple. The giant OnePlus took a dig over Apple. Oneplus India in their Twitter post wrote, “Hey Siri, which is India’s No. 1 Premium Smartphone?” The caption on the post read, “iDare”.
As per the Counterpoint report, in the fourth quarter of 2018, OnePlus marked the market with the highest shipment. Moreover, it had been able to maintain its lead over the others. Since iPhone wasn’t able to maintain the record, OnePlus trolling it is very much natural. In terms of the premium smartphones, Apple had been ruling the market for a long time, both local and international. While OnePlus recorded a market share of 36%, Apple and Samsung recorded a market share of 30% and 26% eventually.
Research Analyst of Counterpoint Research, Karn Chauhan stated, “OnePlus recorded its highest ever shipments in a single quarter to lead the premium smartphone segment for three successive quarters. Additionally, the success of OnePlus drove overall premium smartphone shipments to a record number in a single year.”
Apple has seen a massive decline in the overall revenue as compared to 2017. If it does not maintain its standard it will be prone to such trolling.
