Wedding Season Review – Chilling Rom-Com to Revisit the Journey of Your Wedding

Directed by Tom Dey, this Netflix original Indo-American romantic comedy movie will steal your heart. Packed with a good star cast this movie was released on 4 Aug. At first you might get the idea of this movie having the same old Indian traditional drama but make no such mistakes. Still, if you haven’t heard of this movie then your thought might get changed after watching the trailer.

Wedding Season Plot

Asha (Pallavi Sharda) is a perpetually single workaholic who isn’t interested in getting married just yet, despite the fact that her more traditional Indian parents are concerned about her future. She strikes a bargain with her parents to appease them. In exchange for them removing her dating page, she’ll go to all of the season’s weddings and meet one last boy named Ravi (Suraj Sharma). When Asha and Ravi first meet, they devise a scheme to pretend to be dating in order to stop the neighborhood rumors about them. They must determine if they can overcome their impudent exteriors in order to accept their actual feelings as their love for each other increases and secrets come to light as they get to know one another.

Asha and Ravi’s parental acceptance is another shade of the movie which touches our hearts. Asha is an economist who recently accepted a position in a new field that required a pay cut, which concerned her parents. Ravi, on the other hand, has a history that embarrasses his parents, which is made even more difficult by the musical career he is pursuing. Both sets of parents have moments when they finally understand their children and share their joy at the fact that they are still thriving despite everything.

The plot of the movie might reminds you of the Netflix romantic comedy Holidate, starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey which was released on Netflix in 2020.

While watching the trailer of the movie you will hear a beautiful quote from the mother of the antagonist “I know Ravi isn’t perfect, but I feel he’s your happiness,” which indicates what true Indian parents are. Always looking best for their children.

It’s not just another movie about Indian weddings it shows us the unconventional interests of the Indian Americans. That the high-paying jobs and eye-catching luxury life shouldn’t rule the world.

Growing up as a child of immigrant parents is not that easy, which is shown in the film very beautifully.

Wedding Season Cast

Leads gave their best performances and they’re endearing and funny, and they have a lot of chemistry with one another. The older generation has a few difficult Indian accents, but these can be overlooked. And there are some characters trait stereotypes.

Suraj Sharma

Man of many talents, acted in critically acclaimed Life of Pie and several famous TV shows including Homeland and How I Met Your father. Sharma does justice with the character and this film is no doubt his one the best performances.

Pallavi Sharda

Pallavi earned her fame in the 2013 comedy movie Besharam, but her cameo in 2010 released My Name Is Khan can’t be overlooked. Speaking of Wedding Season she did a great job. Her performance in the movie. Her accent in the movie wasn’t a problem at all as she lived her entire life in Australia.
