Nikhil Advani’s Mumbai Diaries 26/11 to release on Amazon Prime in March 2021

On the 12th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Amazon Prime Video unveiled the first look of its upcoming web series, Mumbai Diaries 26/11. The series is a tribute to the sung and unsung heroes of the attack who played their part and the ones who lost in the frontline. The web series stars Mohit Raina, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Shreya Dhanwanthary in crucial roles.

On 26 November, ten terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba from Pakistan entered Mumbai through the sea and open-fired the Taj Hotels and other places in Mumbai, killing 166 civilians and 18 security personnel. The web series brings out the horror of the same.

The web series brings out the role of police and security personnel and the story of doctors, paramedics, nurses, and other unsung heroes who worked tirelessly to pull out the terror-stricken Mumbai back to the lively Mumbai. Advani is known for bringing about the stories of doctors who are often left unsung despite playing a crucial role.

In a statement, Advani added, “We Mumbaikars often discuss where we were on that fateful night when this devastating incident shook the entire city. There have been several shows and films centred on the incident but no one has explored the doctors’ side of it. With this medical drama, we aim to champion the human spirit in the face of unprecedented danger and celebrate the brave doctors who had saved the day while keeping the sensitivity of the topic in mind.”

Taking to the platform, Aparna Purohit, the Head of India Originals at Amazon Prime Video, said that the video acts as a homage to the frontline workers, their families, and all the martyrs up bravely ahead only to save everyone else’s lives.

In a statement, Purohit said, “We are unveiling the first look of the series as an ode to their bravery and sacrifice. The show is a tribute to the spirit of Mumbai. We are extremely happy to collaborate with one of India’s finest directors, Nikkhil Advani, to present the untold stories of 26/11.”

Mumbai Diaries 26/11 will be released on the platform in March 2021. It is directed by Nikhil Advani and Nikhil Gonsalves and will be produced by Emmay Entertainment.
