Best Indian Films of Q1 2022 – Top Bollywood Movies so Far

It seems 2022 is all set to push women’s power, and they are leading the way in the Bollywood market. Alia Bhatt’s “Gangubai Kathiawadi” to Vidya Balan’s “Jalsa” all brought female powers on board in this male-dominated society.

After a long haul where theaters were closed due to the pandemic outbreak, these movies created excitement among cinema lovers. The beginning of 2022 was bleaking as no movies hit the screen in January, but the tide slowly began shifting when the “Badhaai Do” confirmed its theatrical release.

However, Deepika Padukone’s “Gehraiyaan” dropped in February on Amazon Prime Video, and back-to-back releases were confirmed, including Badhaai Do to Alia Bhatt’s spectacular Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Well, Q1 came to an end, and we have penned down the best films of this quarter. Have a look.

Best Indian Films: Gangubai Kathiawadi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, brought the all audience to the theaters. The movie was a biopic of Gangubai Harijivandas, also known as Gangubai Kothewali. Her life is documented in S.Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

The movie showcases a simple girl whose dream gets torn when her boyfriend sells her in a Kotha, and she has no choice rather than embrace her destiny and turns the table on her side. With time she empowers herself to become the mafia queen.

The film was released in theaters on February 25, 2022. The film was a huge success at the box office, crossing Rs.100 crores.

Best Indian Films: Jalsa

Suresh Triveni always brings an extraordinary film on board for his audience. Jalsa stars two women in their 40s who are independent and struggling with family strings. The story takes an ugly turn when a journalist (Vidya Balan) hits her cook Rukshana’s (Shefali Shah) daughter and runs from there. A hit-and-run case with lots of turmoil and a search for right from wrong is shown in the movie. After its release on the streaming platform, this movie became the most-watched movie. If you haven’t watched this film, you are missing most of the entertainment and thriller. Both the ladies had nailed it with their performances!

Best Indian Films: Gehraiyaan

The Q1 opened with Shakun Batra’s Gehriyaan, a relationship, love triangle, betrayal, and family drama. The film stars the most brilliant star Deepika Padukone who runs the Shakun’s ship dominantly with naïve stars including Ananya Pandey, Sidharth Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa. If we talk about the movie, it embraced different opinions and unexpected reviews from people across the world. But, one thing is guaranteed the movie is just wow, unfolding some of the past secrets and betrays.

Best Indian Films: Badhaai Do

Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s new concept movie about Lavender Marriage has nailed it. The concept, casts, and drama all are in the right direction. The movie is full of comics, punchlines, and a good story that puts the audience on edge and waiting to stick to the climax. Bhumi Pedenekar and Rajkumar Rao in the lead role was the best choice for the movie.

Best Indian Films: Jhund

Nagraj Manjule’s “Jhund” tried to take us beyond the wall of the social divide to a slum where life is hell, and each step towards a living takes you to the next level of challenges. The movie showcases the story of real-life football coach Vijay Barse, who brings the idea of slum soccer to uplift the children living in a ghetto. Casting Amitabh Bachan as Vijay, the film has hit the emotions of Dalits and lightened up the social problems living in that area. Though the movie opened with good reviews but failed at the box office.

Best Indian Films: Looop Lapeta

Well, the movie Looop Lapeta failed to entertain the audience and was quite a tedious one. It gains its momentum only after the interval. Starring Tapsee Panu and Tahir Raj Bhasin, it was just a time travel thriller in which the gal has to rob a store and reach the goons to save her boyfriend. The movie is an official remake of the German film ‘Run Lola Run’.

Last but not least S.S Rajamouli’s pan-India film RRR stormed the box office with its action-packed drama starring Jr NTR, and Ramcharan. The film has an epic tale and got a huge success at the box office.

If you have missed these movies of Q1, you are missing a huge entertainment in your life.
