Here’s the news that will delight Wizard of Oz fans – they are making a prequel of the movie and are calling it Wicked. The movie is inspired by the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of West written by Gregory Maguire. Universal Pictures had announced the movie back in 2012, but the production was slow. Nevertheless, the filming of the movie is complete, and the makers have already revealed the release date.
Wicked is a musical fantasy set in the Land of Oz. It is the story of green-skinned Elphaba Tropp, who becomes friends with Galinda Upland. The two friends choose different paths to become Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, respectively.

The movie has been directed by Job M Chu and produced by Marc Platt and David Stone. It has been written by Winnie Holzman – the author of the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of West.
