While the west has banked on Fantasy Romantic Comedies for years, with the release of Tooth Pari: When Love Bites in India, it seems the Indian audience can finally have the taste of the same with the twist of Indianness! While we have seen Vampires here and there in the Indian subtext, this Netflix series will, for the first time bring the elements of Vampires into the main storyline for the masses.
Don’t be blinded by Vampires, Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is more than that. It is not just a fantasy rom-com, the show is set to entail a story that has a lot of thrill and suspense to it, which we are going to talk about in today’s blog!
Many might consider it somewhat inspired by one of Hollywood’s most successful franchises of all time, Twilight, where a vampire (Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson) falls in love with a human (Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart), but with Netflix and Endemol Shine producing the show, we can most definitely expect something fresh and exciting.
The show’s plot is based on Rumi, a vampire (played by Tanya Maniktala) falling in love with a shy dentist, Roy (Shantanu Maheshwari) in Kolkata and how their romantic journey entails the elements of comedy, thrill and suspense. The main storyline begins when Rumi breaks one of her fangs while on a “hunt” and is forced to get it treated by a “human” dentist!
Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is directed by Pratim D. Gupta who is well-known as a film critic and journalist and has directed several films in Bengali, but the show will mark his directorial debut in the Hindi language.
Trending: Gumraah Movie (2023) : Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Is Gumrah A Remake?
The trailer launched on Netflix’s official YouTube handle only showcases the headliners of the show, Shantanu Maheshwari and Tanya Maniktala. After working on the hit movie, under the legendary Indian director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this will be Shantanu’s first major project. In Gangubai Kathiawadi, Shantanu played the role of Afsaan, the young lover of Gangubai (Alia Bhatt) and garnered critical acclaim for his performance.
Along with Shantanu and Tanya as the leads, the show has some big names on the list, including the likes of Sikandar Kher, Tillotama Shome, Adil Hussain and Revathy! If a Netflix show has these actors in it, we can certainly hope for the show to hit the masses when it releases and gather the praise it deserves.
While there is already a lot of hype for this show in the technically new genre for the Indian web series industry, the show is only going to come live on the 20th of April, 2023 which is almost a month away.
The best thing about the Tooth Pari: When Love Bites Release Date is that it is coming on the long weekend with Eid coming that Saturday. So, get ready to enjoy some eerie, comical and thrilling love story between a human and a beautiful vampire!
All we can say is that we are waiting for this new experimental genre in Tooth Pari: When Love Bites. We are pretty much sure that Shantanu, Tanya, Sikandar Kher, Tillotama Shome and Adil Hussain under the direction of Pratim D. Gupta are going to make this a weekend binge-worthy series!
