Natasha Rothwell to Write and feature in “How to Die Alone”

Disney Entertainment-owned and managed content brand Onyx Collective has approved “How to Die Alone”. The series will be telecast on Hulu, and it has been written by Natasha Rothwell. The 30-minute episode will have eight serials and feature Natasha Rothwell as the lead character in the series. 

Natasha Rothwell will be seen playing the role of Melissa, a Black, chubby and paranoid woman who has never fallen in love. After a near experience with death, she decides to change her life and chooses not to settle for anything less than what she desires. She propels herself on a journey in life where she wants to become that “sassy woman”.

Vera Santamaria, the writer for Orange is the New Black, Pen15, and Bojack Horseman is the co-showrunner and the executive producer, along with Desiree Akhvan for How to Die Alone. Akhvan is the creator of The Miseducation of Cameron Post and The Bisexual. 

Other actors in How to Die Alone, beside Natasha Rothwell, include Conrad Ricamora, who plays the role of Rory, Melissa’s best friend. He is a little crazy and devoid of love in life but loves to enjoy every moment without considering the spending as he is an adopted son to a filthy rich Upper East Side Family. His father is the CEO of a company and is embarrassed by Rory’s way of living. Durrel Jones will be seen playing Melissa’s close friend, Terrance, who is an Air Force Veteran. Melissa is highly inspired by his passion for adventure. Jocko Sims will play Alex, Melissa’s former fling and her current boss. Finally, Bashir Salahuddin will be playing the role of Brian, Melissa’s older brother.

How to Die Alone is the product of an overall deal Rothwell signed with ABC Signature and Onyx Collective through her Big Hattie Productions banner.

Natasha Rothwell is mostly known for her role as Issa, who is a close friend of Kelli in the famous HBO series, Insecure. She debuted as a director in this series and served as the writer. Lately, she was seen in the role of Belinda in Season of The White Lotus, a series telecast on HBO. Some more famous series that she has been cast in include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Bob’s Burgers, Bojack Horseman, and American Dad. She also wrote Saturday Night Live for 21 episodes. Natasha will make appearances in the animated films Wish from Disney and Wonka from Warner Bros.
